Without Vision, There Is No Hope. – George Washington Carver
Without Vision, There Is No Hope. – George Washington Carver
Welcome to Meditation 101: Reflections and Contemplations • Issue #1
According to the author, her book: “We Heal Together is a tool for healing ourselves and witnessing the healing that is possible for others and our culture” Emphasizing “that healing is possible, individually and collectively.”
Readings and discussions in Episode 2 of our session on Saturday 19 April 2025 (solar date) / 20 Shawaal 1446 (lunar date) took a meditative look at concepts of key terms (“Shared Language”) the author, Michelle Cassandra Johnson, uses in the book’s content.
Terms such as: dominant culture, privilege, white supremacy, race, social/institutional power, racism, social location, suffering, spiritual bypass, harm, blood memories, liberation, living ancestor, accomplice/comrade, spirit, ritual, ceremony, transformation, and assumptions.
In each of those terms is a description of the types of trauma we have experienced individually and collectivelly as the descendants of enslaved people. Consequently, we need to not only heal personally but also collectively as a community.
The environment of our culture is toxic, yet, we are taught, one might even say trained, to see our culture as normal. We live each day performing acts which are negative to our own best interests. Perhaps, we have been conditioned to not see that which we should see…
Healing our minds, our spirits, our souls from environmental toxins is far different from healing our physical bodies. How we heal ourselves together is work we must learn how to do. And we can.
Our Saturday meditation sessions provide a safe environment for building community and learning how we heal together. Join us for Episode 3; 1:45 PM Saturday 26 April 2025 at our ZOOM site:
